Over a hundred years ago, the German poet Heine warned the French not to underestimate the power of ideas: philosophical concepts nurtured in the stillness of a professor’s study could destroy a civilization.”–Isaiah Berlin

I am a South African structural engineer with a specialization in Nuclear Structures and I have worked on the construction sites in South Africa, France, Russia and Lesotho. I speak 4 languages, Afrikaans, English, French and German. I cover the ideas that are central to the human experience, this includes politics, history, geography, philosophy, economics, linguistics and engineering.

I am a liberal in both the classical and French revolutionary sense i.e. I believe that societies are best structures when there is open debate, reason and a dedication to the scientific method as opposed to dogma and blind dedication to authority. Countries have to take the good from their past, while moving to a just future.
